Summary
Starting September 1, 2025, individual occupational therapists and OT groups can enroll as Medicaid billing providers for COPE/Confident Caregiver services, previously limited to home health agencies only. Both RNs (through HHAs) and OTs can now bill separately for their respective components of these caregiver support services.
Action Required
Before September 1, 2025: Home health agencies should consider enrolling for the limited nursing component of COPE/Confident Caregiver services. Billing teams must update systems to handle separate billing scenarios where RN services are billed by HHAs using code S0274 and OT services are billed by individual OTs or OT groups using code S5108.
