Summary
Medi-Cal providers delivering home health care services, personal care services, day habilitation programs, and respite services in members' homes must register and complete training for the new Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) system before January 1, 2023. The EVV system tracks in-home service visits and requires providers to capture six mandatory data components for each visit including service type, patient, date, location, provider, and service times.
Action Required
Before January 1, 2023: Providers offering home health care services, personal care services, day habilitation programs, or respite services must self-register on the DHCS website, complete required EVV system training within two days of receiving CalEVV identifier, and set up EVV account. Billing team must ensure all in-home visits capture and transmit six mandatory data components (service type, patient, date, location, provider, start/end times). Failure to comply will result in payment denials.
