Effective September 1, 2025, CareFirst will redirect routine dental billing inquiries (eligibility, benefits, claim status, remittance, fee schedules) to self-service options through CareFirst Direct portal and CareFirst on Call phone system. The provider service team will no longer handle these requests by fax or phone.

By September 1, 2025: Dental billing team must register for CareFirst Direct portal if not already done and bookmark self-service resources at carefirst.com/learning. Stop submitting benefit fax requests and routine inquiries to provider service team. Use CareFirst Direct portal for eligibility/benefits, claim status, remittance, and fee schedules. Use CareFirst on Call (IVR) system for phone inquiries. Train staff on new self-service processes using provided training resources.
