Action Required

Action needed
Immediately: Update billing system to flag that only Durolane and Euflexxa are covered for knee osteoarthritis injections for BCBS MS patients. All other hyaluronic acid products (Gel-One, Gelsyn-3, GenVisc 850, Hyalgan, Hymovis, Monovisc, Orthovisc, Supartz FX, Synojoynt, Synvisc, Synvisc One, Triluron, TriVisc, Visco-3) are not covered. Stop billing hyaluronic acid injections for any joint other than the knee. Providers must document insufficient pain relief from conservative therapy before injection and wait 6 months between repeat courses.
