Summary
Patient-controlled end range of motion stretching devices (both static progressive and serial types) are considered investigational and not covered. A new HCPCS code E1832 for static progressive stretch finger devices was added effective April 1, 2025, but remains non-covered.
Action Required
By April 1, 2025: Billing team must update system to include new HCPCS code E1832 (static progressive stretch finger device) as investigational/non-covered. Ensure all patient-controlled stretching device codes (E1801, E1806, E1811, E1816, E1818, E1831, E1832, E1841) are flagged as investigational in billing system. Claims for these devices will be denied as not medically necessary.
