Summary
Parathyroid autotransplantation is considered investigational only when performed as a separate procedure. When performed as an add-on to parathyroidectomy, use CPT 60512, but when performed independently, use unlisted CPT 60699.

Immediately: Billing team must ensure parathyroid autotransplantation is coded correctly - use CPT 60512 when performed with parathyroidectomy procedures (60500, 60502, 60505, 60212, 60225, 60240, 60252, 60254, 60260, 60270, 60271), and use unlisted CPT 60699 when performed as standalone procedure. Note that standalone procedures are considered investigational and may be denied.
