Summary
EmblemHealth is changing member ID format for commercial HIP members to 11-digit alphanumeric IDs starting with 'K' effective January 1, 2019. Prior approval and referral numbers will also change to include 'F' as the second character.
Action Required
By January 1, 2019: Front desk staff must request current member ID cards from all EmblemHealth HIP patients at each appointment. Billing team must use the member ID that is in effect on the date of service when submitting claims, referrals, and prior approval requests. Update patient registration procedures to verify new 11-digit IDs starting with 'K'.
