Effective June 15, 2012, providers can no longer bill IUDs and implantable contraceptives through pharmacy point-of-sale systems for Medicaid patients. Providers must now purchase the devices directly and bill Medicaid for both the product and insertion procedure using family planning indicators and modifiers.

Maintain logs tracking any unused IUDs with patient RINs and submit quarterly reports to Bureau of Comprehensive Health Services at 1-877-782-5565.
