Summary
KMAP (Kansas Medicaid) fixed a system error that incorrectly denied outpatient claims for 'improper modifier for provider specialty' between April 2022 and April 2025. Hospital providers can now resubmit affected claims that were underpaid due to this system error.
Action Required
By August 1, 2025: Hospital billing teams should review outpatient claims processed between April 4, 2022 through April 30, 2025 that were denied for edit 4235 (Improper Modifier for Provider Specialty). Resubmit any affected claims that were underpaid or contact KMAP Customer Service at 1-800-933-6593 with reference number CHG0071075 to request claim adjustments. Note: Claims older than 24 months will require provider reprocessing.
