Summary
Kansas Medicaid now allows Personal Care Services (PCS) to be delivered in acute care hospital settings for participants in I/DD and BI waivers (effective July 1, 2024) and PD and FE waivers (effective January 1, 2025). Services must be MCO-authorized, non-duplicative of hospital care, and documented in the EVV system.
Action Required
By January 1, 2025: Billing team must establish workflow for MCO authorization of Personal Care Services during hospital stays for PD and FE waiver participants. Ensure all PCS providers are waiver-approved and coordinate with hospital staff to avoid duplicate billing. Update documentation requirements to include EVV system entries with time in/out for hospital-based PCS delivery.
