Kansas Medicaid will require biosimilar alternatives instead of brand name biologics. Brand name Stelara claims will be rejected starting July 1, 2025, and brand name Humira claims will be rejected after September 30, 2025.

By July 1, 2025: Update billing system to flag brand name Stelara claims for Kansas Medicaid patients and ensure providers prescribe interchangeable biosimilars (ustekinumab-aauz, ustekinumab-ttwe, ustekinumab-aekn, ustekinumab-stba, ustekinumab-kfce). By September 30, 2025: Update system to flag brand name Humira claims and ensure providers prescribe interchangeable adalimumab biosimilars. Train providers on available biosimilar options. Claims for brand names will be rejected after these dates.
