Summary
Kansas Medicaid is unbundling Assistive Services into three separate services effective April 1, 2024: Home and Environmental Modification Services (S5165), Vehicle Modification Services (T2039), and Specialized Medical Equipment and Supplies (T2029). Providers must now use these specific codes instead of the previous bundled Assistive Services code for HCBS waiver participants.
Action Required
Immediately (retroactive to April 1, 2024): Billing team must update system to replace previous Assistive Services billing with new unbundled codes: S5165 for Home and Environmental Modification Services, T2039 for Vehicle Modification Services, and T2029 for Specialized Medical Equipment and Supplies. Update encounter forms and provider documentation to specify which type of assistive service is being provided. Review and resubmit any claims from April 1, 2024 forward that used the old bundled code.
