Summary
Federal law now requires all providers who order, refer, or prescribe services for Medicaid members to enroll with South Carolina DHHS as Medicaid providers, even if they don't bill Medicaid directly. This includes current providers and those who may serve Medicaid patients in the future.
Action Required
Immediately: All providers who order, refer, or prescribe services for Medicaid patients must enroll with SCDHHS at their website, selecting 'Ordering/Referring' provider type. Providers already enrolled and billing Medicaid do not need separate enrollment. Contact Provider Service Center at (888) 289-0709 with questions. Non-compliance may result in inability to order/refer services for Medicaid patients.
