Summary
California SB 137 requires Cigna Healthcare to verify provider directory information annually for ancillary providers and physicians in groups, and every six months for individual physicians. Providers must respond within 30 business days to verification requests or be removed from directories.
Action Required
Within 30 business days of receiving Cigna directory verification notices: Confirm accuracy of all demographic information including name, specialty, NPI, TIN, addresses, phone numbers, accepting new patients status, and network plan types. If no response to first notice, respond to second notice within 15 business days or be suppressed from directories. Notify Cigna within 5 business days of changes to new patient acceptance status. For demographic changes outside verification periods, provide 90 days advance notice.
