Summary
Aetna is adding precertification requirements for 16 new specialty drugs and medical injectables, with most changes effective April 1, 2026. Additionally, Site of Care requirements will apply to two specific drugs for commercial plans starting April 1, 2026.
Action Required
Before April 1, 2026: Update billing system to require precertification for 16 new specialty drugs (Bilprevda, Aukelso, Xtrenbo, Bildyos, Bosaya, Enoby, Eydenzelt, Jubereq, Osvyrti, HymovisOne, Poherdy, Kyxata, Armlupeg, Exdensur, Lunsumio Velo, Rybrevant Faspro) using codes J3490, J3590, C9399, J7322, and J9999. Submit precertification requests at least two weeks before service dates through Availity portal or EMR system. For specialty drugs, use Novologix system. Update encounter forms to alert providers. Claims will be denied without proper precertification.
