Summary
Starting June 1, 2026, Alacura Medical Transportation Management will handle clinical reviews for commercial ground and air medical transportation claims. Providers can now request optional recommended clinical reviews for non-emergent transports before patient pickup through Alacura's 24/7 nurse line.
Action Required
Before June 1, 2026: Billing team must update ambulance transport workflows to include option for contacting Alacura at 866-729-5941 for recommended clinical reviews on non-emergent ground and air medical transports. Continue checking eligibility through Availity Essentials to identify which services are subject to recommended clinical review versus retrospective review. Note: This does not apply to Federal Employee Program or government program members.
