Summary
Indiana FSSA is eliminating separate billing codes MEDI/MEDM for medication dispenser installation and monitoring under HCBS waivers, requiring these services to be billed as Specialized Medical Equipment and Supplies using T2029 codes instead. Service plans with MEDI/MEDM will not be approved after April 1, 2025.
Action Required
Before April 1, 2025: Billing team must stop using MEDI/MEDM codes for medication dispensers under Indiana HCBS waivers (H&W, PathWays, TBI). Update billing system to use T2029 U7 NU for new medication dispensers and T2029 U7 U8 for replacement/repair under Specialized Medical Equipment and Supplies. Coordinate with case managers to update service plans and remove MEDI/MEDM authorizations. Service plans with MEDI/MEDM will be denied after the effective date.
