Summary
Indiana Medicaid now provides additional reimbursement for nursing facilities and hospice providers caring for residents with Alzheimer's/dementia in special care units ($12/day) and ventilator-dependent residents ($80/day). Providers must use new revenue codes 193 and 199 on UB-04 claims to receive these add-on payments in addition to regular daily rates.
Action Required
Immediately: Nursing facility and hospice billing teams must update UB-04 institutional claims to include revenue code 193 for Alzheimer's/dementia special care unit residents ($12/day add-on) and revenue code 199 for ventilator-dependent residents ($80/day add-on). Add these as additional detail lines alongside existing room-and-board codes (110, 120, 130) or hospice codes (650, 658, 659). Claims can be resubmitted within 180 days of June 27, 2024 for dates of service from July 1, 2023 forward. Failure to use proper revenue codes will result in loss of add-on reimbursement.
