Summary
Indiana Medicaid (IHCP) will now cover 38 previously non-covered wheelchair and wheelchair accessory codes effective November 1, 2023. All codes require prior authorization and are available to Traditional Medicaid and managed care members with full benefits.
Action Required
Before November 1, 2023: DME and HME providers must update billing systems to include the 38 newly covered wheelchair codes with prior authorization requirements. Verify provider specialty enrollment (250 for DME, 251 for HME) matches allowed codes in the policy table. Update fee schedules to reflect rental periods and LTC per diem inclusions. All wheelchair claims without prior authorization will be denied.
