Summary
IHCP (Indiana Medicaid) has corrected the system to allow CPT 99236 (initial hospital care with same-day admission/discharge) to be billed with revenue code 762 (observation hours), effective retroactively to January 1, 2023. Previously denied claims will be automatically reprocessed starting September 13, 2023.
Action Required
Beginning September 13, 2023: Monitor Remittance Advices for automatically reprocessed claims with ICNs starting with 52 or 80. Billing team should verify that previously denied CPT 99236 claims with EOB 520 are being adjusted. No manual resubmission needed as IHCP will mass adjust these claims automatically.
