Summary
IHCP (Indiana Medicaid) has removed coverage for Janssen COVID-19 vaccine and administration codes effective May 22, 2023, following FDA revocation of emergency use authorization. Claims for these codes with dates of service on or after May 22, 2023 will not be reimbursed and any previously paid claims will be recouped.
Action Required
Immediately: Billing team must stop submitting claims for Janssen COVID-19 vaccine codes 91303, 0031A, and 0034A for dates of service on or after May 22, 2023. Update billing system to flag these codes as non-covered for IHCP. Review and appeal any denied claims if services were provided before May 22, 2023. Expect recoupment of payments for claims already paid with DOS on or after May 22, 2023.
