Summary
Indiana Medicaid now provides enhanced BLS reimbursement rates for EMS providers transporting COVID-19 positive or symptomatic patients. Providers must use specific diagnosis codes and CR modifier with transportation codes A0130 and T2003 to receive the higher rate.
Action Required
Immediately for COVID-19 transports: Billing team must add CR modifier to codes A0130 and T2003 when transporting COVID-19 patients. Use diagnosis code Z20.828 for suspected cases, B97.29 for confirmed cases March 1-31 2020, and U07.1 for confirmed cases after April 1 2020. Update billing system rules to apply BLS rates automatically with these code combinations. Resubmit eligible claims from March 1 2020 forward within 180 days, attaching this bulletin for claims beyond original filing limits.
