Indiana Medicaid (IHCP) has added new HCPCS codes effective April 1, 2020, including COVID-19 testing codes and several injectable medications. Most new codes are not covered, but key covered codes include COVID-19 tests (87635, U0001, U0002) and four injectable drugs (C9053, C9056, C9057, C9058).
Action Required
Immediately: Billing team must update IHCP billing system to include new covered codes 87635 (COVID-19 test), U0001 and U0002 (COVID-19 lab tests), and injectable drugs C9053, C9056, C9057, C9058. Set up NDC requirements for injection codes C9053, C9056, C9057, C9058. Configure revenue code 636 linkage for C9053, C9056, C9058. Mark COVID-19 test codes as copay exempt. Do not bill noncovered codes 0014M through 0171U and G1012 through G2169 as they will be denied.
