Summary
Indiana Health Coverage Programs (IHCP) expanded telemedicine billing during COVID-19 emergency to allow voice-only communications and removed restrictions on telemedicine service codes. Providers must use modifier GT when billing telemedicine services not on the standard telemedicine codes list and avoid using POS code 02 or modifier 95.

Immediately: Billing team must update system to allow modifier GT for telemedicine services not on standard codes list. Remove POS code 02 and modifier 95 from telemedicine claims to prevent denials with EOB 3428. Update encounter forms to capture telemedicine delivery method, provider/patient locations, and patient consent documentation. Train providers on expanded telemedicine options including voice-only communications.
