Summary
Due to a system issue, appeals submitted through Availity are not transmitting provider comments to the insurer. All Availity appeals must now include a cover sheet explaining the reason for appeal until this technical issue is resolved.
Action Required
Immediately: Billing team must create and attach cover sheets to all appeals submitted via Availity that clearly outline the reason for appeal and supporting details normally entered in comment fields. By June 1, 2026: Update billing system to deny or flag GI pathogen panel codes (87505, 87506, 87507, 0369U) when billed within 7 days of previous test, and respiratory panel codes (87632, 87633, 0115U, 0202U, 0223U, 0225U, 0373U, 0563U, 0564U) as non-covered. Appeals without cover sheets will experience delays or be returned.
