Summary
BCBSWY is ending several telemedicine benefits effective September 1, 2020: member cost-share waivers will terminate (members now pay normal copays/deductibles), therapy services by Speech, Physical, and Occupational Therapists will no longer be reimbursed via telemedicine, and e-visits will no longer be covered. Other telemedicine services continue through December 31, 2020.
Action Required
By September 1, 2020: Billing team must update systems to collect normal member cost-share for all telemedicine visits - no more waived copays or deductibles. Stop billing telemedicine codes for Speech Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Occupational Therapy services. Discontinue all e-visit billing. Update patient financial counseling scripts to inform members they will be responsible for normal cost-sharing on telemedicine visits.
