Physical, occupational, and speech therapists must add CPT 99199 with a penny charge to claims, while other providers use GT modifier for telemedicine services.
Action Required
Immediately: Physical, occupational, and speech therapists must add CPT code 99199 with a penny charge to all telemedicine claims. All other providers must bill telemedicine services with GT modifier (not modifier 95). Use same Place of Service codes as typical office visits, not POS 2. Update billing system to process these changes or claims will be denied as billed in error.
